That we are not separate from the gods (nor the gods from one another)

Originally answered at Quora:

"How often does Gaia, or concepts like her, come up in your experience? Particularly with the study trail you personally followed, familiarizing yourself with the craft?"

Answer:

Gaia is not separate or distinct from Ouranos (ta oro ta ano, "looking up", or, better, in, since when we look at the sky, if you notice, our attention becomes focused on itself, not on anywhere else), when

“from this looking (up) people acquire a pure mind (katharon nous)” (Plat. Crat. 396),

i.e., Kronos, which is still hidden in Gaia, which “looking up” conceals in Gaia by not intellectualizing things, by not becoming discriminative.

Only when the mind begins to intellectualize (to conceive and to either swallow or regurgitate) do they become distinct or separate. Ouranos no more looks at the sky, and the focus of awareness or kingship shifts from Ouranos/Gaia to the mind or Kronos which looks at its own contents (sons).

Until then, until awareness does not loose the focus on itself, you are like Him (looking in) holding Her tight, Ouranos covering Gaia from all sides, awareness looking at itself, since She is the Mother of Him afterall (that is why they are indistinct).

And that is how too the gods are not separate from one another. Ouranos from Gaia, Kronos from Gaia, Persephone from Zeus Chthonios, or embodied awareness from its Source (Olympian Zeus) and from the world/body (Hades or Chthonic Zeus), the Psyché from the World Soul, Hera from Zeus, Zeus from Rhea, Rhea from Kronos.

As Above, so Below, as Within, so Without.
